Lore of the Dress:

I have way more memories than photos in this dress, but it is one that I have worn many times both on stage & off.

I wore her at our show at the Vic Theatre opening for Jim & as I often get cold backstage also wore a robe during soundcheck. When I walked onstage for the actual show without the robe, there was an audible collective gasp from the audience. Turns out the dress is kind of like a mesh fabric & completely see through in very bright stage light so I recommend wearing a slip with it ;}

There’s the picture of me during that soundcheck in the robe with the ribbed sleeve poking out from underneath. I wore it at Niagra Falls on a day off from tour & I remember thinking “I thought Niagra Falls would be a lot bigger.”

I was in Jim’s backing band for a while & so we had a lot of legendary side quest style after show adventures together. I wore this dress at Orgeon County Fair for a particularly adventurous night after opening for Phil Lesh & Friends with Jim singing lead, me singing backup & Chris Funk from Decemberists on guitar.

We ended up chatting with Phil in the greenroom & he gave us a vial of his personal acid stash. This was before we were sober so Jim & I did some & a few hours go by & it is really dark outside & we looked up & saw a dragon holding a glowing opalescent pearl in the moon & said in unison “DO YOU SEE THE DRAGON HOLDING A GIANT PEARL” & later on a member of Phil’s band found us in a field in the middle of nowhere at 3:33 in the morning & politely said “May I have the vial back? The rest is for Phil.” We walked back to the artist area & on the way saw Phil hunched over his bass playing a 1 note bass solo for maybe 16 minutes with his band also hunched over their instruments just playing along & I knew why.

Phil was so friendly, encouraging & kind. Hanging out with him was like hanging out with a real life unicorn. I have another dress for sale - the white & red string halter top long Anthropology dress - with a pretty hilarious story or us in the greenroom eating chicken sandwiches.
